We Are The People who recognize this moment for what it is. It has happened before. We can see the injustice occurring every day. We know the struggle and know what we must do. We the people remember the beauty of our land. We are the people that remember the splender of what existed before and must work together to reclaim it. We are the people, we are the heroes that we have been waiting for, wishing for, demanding. We are the people. Many of the Sculpted Paintings ® in this show include the documents that founded this country. They are embedded in the making of the painting as they were also rooted in the formation of our nation.
DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY
Sculpted Paintings® which I created over twenty years ago, is a technique that creates a three dimensional perspective through the use of applied canvas and mixed media. My goal is to create art that is of this moment but also captures something timeless. It resonates with one viewing the work as representational although it is not quite accurately realistic. It has a meaning they experience although that meaning is only found in the use of color or symbolism, or imagery. My desire is to make artwork that is so beautiful it cuts to the heart of what is true, whether it is in the medium of a painting, a piece of clothing, or a object d’arte.
